How we do it

5 steps

We crawl the site, run it through Ahrefs, and read your last 12 months of Search Console data. You get the findings whether or not you hire us, and the quote is scoped to what the audit actually surfaced.

A one-page strategy: which terms we’re going after, which pages carry them, what gets fixed first and why. You sign off before any work starts.

Technical tickets shipped through your developers or our own web team. We stay on the tickets until they’re closed, because an audit nobody implements is a document, not a service.

Page-by-page on-page work, new content where the map calls for it, and GEO structured in from the start so AI engines can read and cite you.

Search Console, GA4 and a Looker Studio dashboard you can open any day of the week. What moved, what we changed, what’s next. The person presenting is the person doing the work.

AGL

AGL had enterprise-grade SEO software sitting idle for want of specialists to run it. We embedded our SEO team inside their digital optimisation group and worked three fronts: technical foundations, high-intent content, and AI search. Within six months, average search position improved 58%, clicks rose 22%, keywords in Google’s top three grew 40%, and AGL secured 14.5k features in Google’s AI Overviews. That organic authority lowered their cost of customer acquisition.

“They haven’t just consulted for us, they’ve perfectly integrated into our ways of working, feeling like a natural, extended member of the team. Their deep knowledge and proactive approach make them invaluable.”

FAQ

Most Australian agencies charge a monthly retainer, and the honest range is wide because the work varies wildly by site and market. We quote after the audit, so the price reflects what your site actually needs rather than a tier on a pricing page. Whatever agency you choose, make the package list real work — pages optimised, tickets shipped, content produced — not a vague “ongoing optimisation” line.

Months, not weeks. Anyone promising page one in 30 days is telling you what you want to hear. At AGL we saw a 58% improvement in average search position within six months, with clicks up 22% over the same period. Before that, judge progress on leading indicators: technical fixes shipped, pages published, impressions climbing in Search Console.

Four things, on repeat. Fix technical problems that stop Google crawling and indexing your site properly. Match your pages to what buyers actually type. Improve or create the content those pages need to compete. Then measure it all in Search Console and GA4 so you can see what the work returned. Increasingly there’s a fifth: getting AI search engines to cite you as a source.

Often, but not always, and an agency should say so upfront. If your customers search for what you sell, rankings compound: a page that reaches the top keeps producing without a media budget behind it. If search isn’t a channel that can pay for itself in your market, we’ll tell you at the audit stage, before you’ve signed anything, and point you at what will.

Content that genuinely answers the query, a site Google can crawl and render without obstacles, links and mentions that signal authority, and page experience (speed, stability, mobile usability). Since AI Overviews arrived, being citable matters too: clear structure, verifiable facts and a brand LLMs can attribute. Nobody outside Google knows the exact weightings, so be wary of anyone who claims to.

Ask three things. Show me a named client and the Search Console data behind the claimed result — we’ll walk you through AGL’s. Tell me who does the work day to day, and whether they’ll be in the room at reporting time. And explain what you’d do in month one; if the answer doesn’t start with an audit of your site, they’re selling a package, not a service.
