# A brand strategy agency that stays for the work

We work out what your brand should say, who needs to hear it, and why they'd believe you, then stay to make sure the creative and the campaigns follow it. For brands in Melbourne, Sydney and everywhere between.

**Proof**

- [Southern Phone](https://gudu.com.au/southernphone/) — strategy across a full-service partnership since 2021
- [Revolve Partners](https://gudu.com.au/revolve-partners/) — positioning-led digital presence, built from zero footprint (2025)
- 98% client retention across the agency

## What you get

- **A brand audit.** Where your brand actually stands: how customers describe you, what competitors claim, what your buyers type into Google, and where the gaps are.
- **A positioning statement.** One page that settles what you own, for whom, and against whom. Specific enough that some people won't like it, which is how you know it's a position.
- **A messaging framework.** The key messages per audience, the proof behind each one, and a tone of voice with real examples of what to write and what to cut.
- **A creative strategy.** How the positioning translates into work: the campaign idea, what it looks and sounds like per channel, and the rules that stop it drifting by the tenth execution.
- **A content marketing strategy, where it earns its place.** What to publish, where, and what each piece is for. If content isn't the right lever for your brand, we say so instead of padding the scope.
- **A rollout plan.** Which assets change first, in what order, at what cost, mapped to your actual channels and budget rather than a hypothetical one.
- **A measurement baseline.** What we'll watch to know the strategy is working (branded search, direct traffic, conversion quality), recorded before anything launches so the after has a before.

## How we do it

1. **Immersion.** Adam La Cioppa, our Managing Director, leads this. Interviews with your leadership, your salespeople and, where you'll allow it, your customers. We also read the unglamorous material: sales decks, support tickets, churned-client notes. The brand problem is usually written down somewhere already.
2. **Market and audience research.** We build the evidence base from your GA4 and Search Console data, Ahrefs, review mining across you and your competitors, and a teardown of how every competitor positions itself. The output is a map of what's claimed, what's true and what's unclaimed.
3. **Positioning.** We bring you two or three genuine options, each with the argument for it and the cost of choosing it. You pick one in the room, after a proper fight. A position no one debated is a position no one holds.
4. **Creative translation.** Mark Hebblewhite, our Design Specialist, and our writers turn the strategy into a creative platform, then stress-test it against the boring, real applications: the ad variant, the pitch deck slide, the email footer. If it only works on a mood board, it goes back.
5. **Rollout and measurement.** Because we also run media, build websites and produce creative, we can apply the strategy rather than post it to you. We review against the measurement baseline at 90 days and quarterly after that, and adjust the executions, not the position.

## Case study: Revolve Partners

Revolve Partners had decades of authority in executive search and nothing online to show for it. The strategy came first: their premium positioning had to read as instantly credible to the senior executives they place, and every design and build decision got tested against that one standard. Working alongside their brand's creative team, we turned the position into a site that works as a digital handshake, and took them from zero digital footprint to fully visible in their market.

## FAQ

**What does brand strategy cost?**

We scope a fixed fee after the first conversation, priced on depth: how many stakeholders, how much research, how contested the market. The strategy is priced separately from any execution, so you can take the document elsewhere if you want. We'd rather win the build on merit than bundle it in. Be wary of quotes that only make sense if you also buy the rebrand.

**How long does a brand strategy project take?**

Most run four to eight weeks from kick-off to an agreed position. Immersion and research take the first half; the second is positioning options, the decision, and the creative translation. The variable is you: access to your leadership and customers, and how fast decisions get made. We'll give you a dated plan at kick-off and flag the moments that depend on your calendar.

**What's the difference between brand strategy and creative strategy?**

Brand strategy decides what you stand for: your position, your audiences, your message. Creative strategy decides how that shows up in actual work: the campaign idea, the look, the voice, the rules per channel. Plenty of agencies sell one without the other, which is how brands end up with a smart deck and ads that ignore it. We treat them as one job with two halves.

**Do you write content marketing strategies?**

Yes, as part of brand strategy or on its own. A content marketing strategy from us names the audiences, the topics you have the right to speak on, the formats and channels, and what each piece is for, with our copywriting and video teams on hand to produce it. What we won't do is hand you a 30-day posting calendar and call it strategy.

**We're in Melbourne — how does that work?**

Well. Gudu is remote-first, based on the NSW South Coast and working across Australia, so distance was never part of the model. Research and working sessions happen over video and a shared workspace; for the positioning decision we'll come to Melbourne, because that one belongs in a room. You get the same team either way, not a local branch office.

**How do we judge a brand strategy agency before hiring one?**

Ask to see a real strategy document, with the client's name redacted, and check it makes decisions rather than lists values. Ask who does the work, by name. Ask what happened in the year after handover — a strategy that changed nothing wasn't one. And ask whether they can execute it themselves; an agency that never has to live with its own strategy has no reason to make it practical.
