# Content management

A website is only as good as its last update. We handle the publishing and upkeep that keep yours accurate long after launch.

**Proof**

- [Southern Phone](https://gudu.com.au/southernphone/) — always-on partner since 2021
- 98% client retention across the agency
- [NOVUS Glass](https://gudu.com.au/novus-glass/) — ongoing client-services engagement

## What you get

- **New pages, posts and landing pages.** Loaded into your CMS, proofed and published.
- **Copy and image changes.** As your business changes: pricing, people, products, legal.
- **CMS housekeeping.** Core, theme and plugin updates, broken links found and fixed, redirects kept clean.
- **Asset upkeep.** Images compressed and organised so the site stays fast.
- **Metadata maintained as pages change.** Titles, descriptions, Open Graph tags, structured data.
- **Changes tested on staging.** Before they ship, with backups taken first.
- **A monthly change log.** Covering what we changed and why.

## How we do it

1. **Handover audit.** We map your CMS before we touch it: templates, plugins, integrations, forms, who owns which account. Logins are set up in your name, each with only the access it needs.
2. **Set the cadence.** We agree a publishing calendar and turnaround expectations for standard and urgent changes, and you get one named contact at Gudu for every request.
3. **Publish and update.** You send the change. We format it, check it on staging and publish it, whether it's words, images, embeds or a form.
4. **Keep it healthy.** Scheduled housekeeping: software updates, link checks, redirect hygiene, image weight, forms submitted and verified. Small problems get fixed before visitors find them.
5. **Measure and report.** GA4 and Google Search Console tell us what each change did. You get a monthly note in plain English covering what shipped and what it changed.

All of it is done in-house by Gudu staff, mostly in WordPress, though we work in whatever CMS you run.

## Case study: Southern Phone

Southern Phone's accounts had been set up and left to drift: creative from a mix of agencies with no shared design language, and campaigns nobody was maintaining. We rebuilt the strategy in 2021 and have looked after the account ever since, week in, week out. Cost per acquisition fell $22, and the business backed the results by lifting spend 68% year on year.

> "Their expert planning, creative thinking coupled with their excellent communication skills and on time execution with every results-driven campaign make it a pleasure to work with this team." — Jacqueline Jansse, Southern Phone

## FAQ

**What does website content management cost?**

It's a monthly retainer, scoped to how much changes on your site and how often. A site that needs a handful of updates a month costs far less than a weekly publishing programme. We audit your CMS first, then quote a fixed monthly figure, and routine changes are covered by it rather than billed as extras.

**What's actually included?**

Everything that touches existing content and configuration: publishing new pages and posts, copy and image edits, CMS software updates, redirects, metadata, asset housekeeping and a monthly change report. New sections, redesigns or custom functionality are web development work, and we'll tell you clearly when a request crosses that line before anything is billed.

**Do you need to have built our website?**

No. We start every engagement with a handover audit that maps your templates, plugins and integrations, whoever built them. That audit usually surfaces a few problems worth fixing straight away, and it means we can make changes safely from week one rather than learning your site by breaking it.

**How quickly are updates made?**

We agree turnaround times up front and put them in writing: one for standard changes, a faster one for urgent fixes like a wrong price or a broken form. Because you deal with one named person at Gudu, requests don't sit in a ticket queue waiting to be triaged.

**Who owns the website and the accounts?**

You do. Hosting, domain, CMS and analytics accounts all sit in your name, and we document every credential and process as we go. If you ever leave, you take a working, documented site with you. Most clients stay anyway; retention across the agency sits at 98%.

**How is this different from a maintenance or hosting plan?**

A maintenance plan keeps the software running. Content management keeps the site itself current: the words, pages, images and metadata your customers actually see. We do the software housekeeping as part of the job, but the point is a site that still tells the truth about your business six months after launch.
